CNN has a new feature, and it's free! If you send CNN your press release, they'll weave it into a news story, even if they had a reporter there to report on it himself. Such a deal!
Of course, there are a few restrictions. First, your press release must be from a far-left group promoting an "action." Like, oh, say, harrassing Karl Rove chez lui. See 'Group protests outside Rove's house'. They even left out the bit about the protesters banging on Rove's windows, making it sound much more of a peaceful protest than as described in the WaPo. See this post and the previous one for more information.
Previous coverage of the Rove harrasment is here, and previous coverage of the DREAM Act is here.

January 21,2005 my husband (Robert Boulos Saab) gave me 10 days to get out of the house. I left the next day, went to the American embassy. They said there is nothing they can do. They suggested I leave the country. I didn’t want to take my children from their father, so I opted to stay. When I left I took the family car. I was the only one that had ever driven it so I felt I was entitled to.
January 24, 2005 Robert reported the car stolen. He never asked me to return the car to him or I would have. When I left the home I went to my friends home. Robert accused me of having an affair with her son, Hussein Khasheb.
February 4, 2005 the police raided the home of my friend and took myself along with Hussein into custody. Once they realized the stolen car report was a lie they had no choice but to release me. However they held Hussein. They wrote up a report and forced him to sign it. In this report they wrote that they arrested us while driving the car, they also said that Hussein admitted to having an affair with me. This was not the case. They wrote what my husband and his lawyer told them to.
Divorce laws here are as follows… A divorce by a marriage that is civil is to be governed by the laws of where the marriage took place. Lebanon has no civil marriages. We were married in Los Angeles, California. The laws also state that if one of the parties is found guilty of adultery then they get nothing at all. There is a 2-year jail sentence along with a fine for pain and suffering.
Robert took this written document to the courts and accused me of adultery.
March 2005. I was brought into custody. The investigating officer, after talking to my husband, said he felt I was guilty and held Hussein and I in the jail, in Hamra. We faced the judge the next day around 4 pm in Baabda. Judge Mhammad Mazloum found us innocent but said it was too late in the day to release us. There was nobody to do the paper work. This weekend was the weekend of Easter. This meant we would have to stay in the jail at least until Tuesday. They did not release us. Wednesday the American embassy came to see me in the jail. Said there is nothing they could do for me because I also have Lebanese citizenship. Thursday came and they finally released us.
I had been waiting for my husband to file the papers for the divorce as I didn’t have money, but couldn’t wait any longer. I sold some jewelry to get some money and I filed for the divorce the next day, Friday.
In the meantime my husband filed an appeal to the innocent ruling in the adultery case.
June 1,2005 we faced the divorce judge in Baabda, Judge Amani Salami. She awarded me $333 per month to live on. I was given Saturdays to visit my children. In the meantime my friend moved and didn’t want me to move with her. I was now living on the streets. I sold the rest of my jewelry in order to live.
On April 22, 2005 I had hired a lawyer Hala Najem Abou Chdid. I gave her power of attorney for this case and paid her $1,000 she told me she was taking care of the case and I didn’t need to attend a July 4, 2005 court hearing on the appeal. The sitting judge was Souhail Abed El-Samad…Come to find out she hadn’t submitted my power of attorney to the court and didn’t attend this session. I was found guilty because I wasn’t there to defend myself nor did I have legal representation.
I am currently facing the penalty phase of this guilty verdict. In Jedeide Court with Judge Daniel Zeenni. There is no evidence other than the police report. The police officer even came to the penalty phase and admitted he lied on the report. This case has been going on since July 2005. My last court date was November 24 but the judge was sick so they rescheduled it. The next court date is now scheduled sometime in March.
January 2006, I asked the divorce judge for an increase in monthly payments in order to survive. Gave her receipts of all my bills. To this day she hasn’t made her decision.
We had a court appearance with Judge Salami November 14. She ordered us to come to an agreement by December 12. I am certain my husband won’t want to. See if there is no settlement then the courts will stop my alimony payments. This is because the courts found me guilty in June 2005.
I contacted a womens rights organization in America and they introduced me to Attorney Georges Melki. Mr. Melki has since taken over both my divorce case and the adultery case. The womans rights organization has paid him a retainer as I have no money.
My husband is also wanted by the F.B.I. …. The investigating officer is Doug McFarrlen in Los Angeles. He was arrested here in Lebanon back in September 2001 but was later released, as there is no extradition with America.
