Gustavo Torres/Case de Maryland refuses to say Pledge of Allegiance

Casa de Maryland is a government-funded organization that strongly supports illegal immigration and that's been involved in organizing immigration marches. Earlier this year, Gustavo Torres, their executive director, threatened to picket not just the residences of Minuteman Project members, but the schools of their children. So, while there's certainly no requirement to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, this is not a surprise:
...at the Gaithersburg City Council meeting last night, one citizen refused to recite the Pledge. Casa De Maryland Executive Director Gustavo Torres, an immigrant from Colombia, stood in definace while substantially everyone else present recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Even the day laborers at the meeting, many of whom have previously admitted that they are in the USA illegally, stood up in respect for the US flag and recited the Pledge as best as they could.

11/30/11 UPDATE: The quoted material above was taken from the MoCo Progressive blog, which is now empty of posts. There probably was a link to MoCo Progressive originally, but I then removed it when the site was emptied. In any case, a cached copy of their post is here. Another blog (link) links to video of the event (which I was unable to download) and casts doubt on whether this actually happened. However, the second blog admits "While [Gustavo Torres] does stand during the ceremony, it looks as if he does not participate." So, this post stands.

The Gaaithersburg city council will in the end game welcome the mexican drug dealers, someday any kind of work will be ear-marked for only the third worlds people, and all American will not be allowed to work inside the new lands of mexico, see the north american union and the deal made, see 2010.

Gaithersburg City Council apparently just refused to set up a Day Laborer Center. The WaPo weighed in as usual, saying how awful it was that the GCC had paid more attention to the citizens of Gaithersburg than the outside interests who wanted this center. Seems as if the WaPo didn't learn the lessons of the Herndon DLC at least the GCC did. After opening a DLC contrary to the wishes of Herndon residents, the mayor and 2 city councilmen found themselves voted out of office a few months later.

My version: "... not only thicker than water, but thicker than the ink on the Constitution."

I like yours better.

Today, I'm hoping we don't get a repeat of stories like this one from last year -- blech. I'll be a bit thankful for that.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

eh, You have a neat metaphor there. My version: "... not only thicker than water, but thicker than the ink on the Constitution."

This rat is just one more reason why the people must start to see the facts of the enemies of freedom in front of you!
This pig hates this nation and loves the ideals of drug dealers and bin laden, don't real people understand what is about to happen inside this once great nation with 40 million illegals yelling for rights but will not stand up to the evil leaders inside place's like mexico, don't people understand that the pigs of mexico and other places are here to kill you? this rat would never think of doing that in mexico city! and the supporters of mexico city are just drug dealers.

who hate the ideals of freedom and duty. think mass hangings and yes eh is dead on the money.

ask how long before pigs like Gustavo Torres are running this nation and what do you think a pig like this would do to you and your family?

Doesn't our government have a solution for that?

Maybe. But racially sensitive political correctness might trump it; those targeted would only have to cry 'Racism!' -- this will scare the bejeebers out of the authorities. The reason it has not been such a problem to deal with the abortion protestors is: nearly all of them are white.

The disloyal actions of Torres,...

He's plenty 'loyal', just not to the US, instead to his own racial/ethnic group. Most people have a gut feeling that the US as 'proposition nation' is going to have big problems, since blood is not only thicker than water, but also very probably thicker than the constitution.

The disloyal actions of Torres, et al, are grist for the mill for those making their case that advocacy groups have no respect for the institutions or history that have made this country what it is today. These people exemplify the core of a foreign element that are certain in their revision of American history that Latinos are the victims of American policies while absolving their homeland governments of responsibility for the sorry states of their economic climates. Ultimately, their causes were suffer from the hatred that eats away at their soles.

Targeting people's homes and children was tried by the anti-abortionists. RICO shut them down. Sounds like an act of terrorism to me. Doesn't our government have a solution for that? Torres, first class to GITMO, pronto! Or, deportation, with loss of citizenship, if you are one.
