Is al Qaeda Sunni or Shia?
What about Hezbollah, are they Sunni or Shia?
Many bloggers could get those right (Sunni and Shia, respectively).
However, Democrat Silvestre Reyes - Nancy Pelosi's choice to be the new chairman of the House Intelligence Committee - did not know the answer to either question.

A more extensive discussion on Reyes' corrupt activities re one of the prior incarnations of the "virtual fence" is here.

oh yes! he knows how much money in in mexico that is what he is all about, and his end game is to help the rats who want you dead, dead, dead, ask why jackson and sharpton can call for the killing of white cops and not be called race hate guys?
its all about treason and racism for money and killing of a people and a nation.

I guess we shouldn't be surprised that a genuine dumbass like Reyes has been named Chairman of the Intelligence Committee. His best recommendation is that he appears to be a more clever crook than fellow Vietnam vet Randy "Duke" Cunnungham.

Lawrence Auster suggests that the House Intelligence Committee-given its new Chairman- should be renamed the House Ignorance Committee.

OK, so, yeah, maybe he didn't know the answer to those questions (that's what aides are for, right?), but he's Hispanic and so Pelosi will score big political correctness/diversity points with his appointment.
By this time I think we've all seen -- haven't we? -- that diversity (or sometimes cronyism/loyalty) is more important than competence when it comes to these public positions.

Hmm, I would have incorrectly guessed Palestinians were Shia rather than Sunni, "cannon fodder" would be a more appropriate designation.
I've heard the Sunni of the Middle East were upper & upper middle class of educated & professional people-like doctors, lawyers, teachers, and Shia were the low life uneducated tribal breedersm, maily unskilled, uneducated & have lots of kids-like the Palestinians. I guess that was an incorrect stereotype and I'm sure there's a constant shifting of allegiances between the groups depending on who's in power.
The palestinains did get a lot of funding from formerly Sunni Iraq & Sunni Saudi Arabia, that could explain their Sunni identity too.
