Gil Cedillo: "One Bill Gil"

Gil Cedillo is a California state Assemblyman who frequently acts more like an agent of the Mexican government. He's often referred to as "One Bill Gil" for his continual attempts to pass a bill giving drivers licenses to illegal aliens.

Also:

* He's a former member of the radical racial separatist group MEChA (other former members include Rep. Raul Grijalva, Antonio Villaraigosa, and Cruz Bustamante).

* Of illegal aliens, he said "they were here first". No matter how you parse it, that's a reconquista, MECha-style statement.

* Another bill he pushes is the California version of the DREAM Act, which in various forms allows illegal aliens to take college slots or college discounts away from U.S. citizens. Barack Obama endorsed the 2007 version of the bill, and an Obama ad highlighted that Cedillo had endorsed him.

* He wanted to create an "Office of Immigrant Affairs".

* He wanted California to boycott Arizona over that state's anti-illegal immigration law.

* He proposed an "Unconstitutional Towing and Driver's License Resolution" that was approved by the National Latino Congreso.

* In 2006, he (together with Kent Wong, Judy Chu, UNITE HERE, and We Are America Alliance) led illegal aliens in a civil disobedience photo op.

* He was on Migrant March II, together with Peter Schey, Nativo Lopez, and many others.

* He admitted that "Latinos have displaced other work communities - clothing, hotel, and restaurant industries that used to be done by blacks and anglos" and then said, "since Latinos are now central to union revitalization, through immigration and high birth rates unions can be partisan for full Latino empowerment."

* He compared amnesty to ending U.S. slavery, giving women the right to vote, and ending Japanese internment in a speech supporting an immigration march. He co-authored a resolution in support of that march.

* In 2008, he spoke at an immigration march; another speaker was a Mexican politician.

Gil Cedillo pushes California boycott of Arizona over immigration law - 06/21/10

California state senator Gil Cedillo - someone who occasionally acts more like an agent of the Mexican government than a U.S. official - is pushing a non-binding resolution in support of a boycott of Arizona over their new immigration law (link): Some 40 state lawmakers, including members of the Latino Legislative Caucus, plan to introduce a resolution this week that urges the state to "cease California investments in Arizona" and calls for Major League Baseball to reconsider its decision to allow Arizona to host the 2011 All-Star Game. The non-binding resolution also includes a "travel...

This is corruption in action: Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Friday disputed claims that illegal immigrants caused California's $24.3 billion deficit, while he praised their economic contributions and said he is "happy" they have access to services. ...In response to dozens of questions from readers who say the state ought to wipe out the deficit by eliminating services for illegal immigrants, the governor said it is a "myth" that those immigrants are to blame. He said the cost of services to illegal immigrants, which has been estimated at $4 billion to $5 billion annually, is a "small...

Barack Obama reiterates support for driver's licenses for illegal aliens (Carolyn Lochhead) - 01/28/08

Carolyn Lochhead of the San Francisco Chronicle offers this: Sen. Barack Obama easily won the African American vote in South Carolina, but to woo California Latinos, where he is running 3-to-1 behind rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, he is taking a giant risk: spotlighting his support for the red-hot issue of granting driver's licenses to illegal immigrants. It's a huge issue for Latinos, who want them. It's also a huge issue for the general electorate, which most vehemently does not. Obama's stand could come back to haunt him not only in a general election, but with other voters in...

Is Barack Obama a Muslim who practices Islam and who attended a madrassa? - 01/27/08

Is Barack Obama a Muslim who practices Islam and who attended a madrassa (madrasa) in Indonesia? Despite whatever emails you might have received, it appears that the answer to that is no. The 2nd annual "National Latino Congreso" - a meeting of hundreds of "Latino organizational leaders, elected officials, and activists at all levels" is currently underway in Los Angeles (latinocongreso.org). Yesterday, Anna Gorman of the Los Angeles Times offered a whitewashed report here. Let's take a look at the groups involved and some of the loony resolutions that were passed. Expect the MSM coverage to be in line with Gorman's report: it will completely cover for far-left racial demagogues and avoid mentioning the loony resolutions. Their "conveners' include: * League of United Latin...

Gil Cedillo's SB 1 would create "Office of Immigrant Affairs" - 03/19/07

California state Senator Gil Cedillo - a Democrat whose actions are usually indistinguishable from those that a paid Mexican agent would engage in - is back with a new scheme: creating an "Office of Immigrant Affairs" with bill SB 1. He pretends that that Office would help new immigrants get settled in the state, help them apply for citizenship, and so forth.

The California Assembly has passed Gil Cedillo's latest attempt to give driver's license to illegal aliens, SB 1162. California State Senate supports foreign citizens marching in our streets - 04/27/06

In a shocking - but not surprising - move, the California State Senate has endorsed the May 1 illegal immigration boycott and march: SCR113. This isn't suprising considering that many California legislators frequently act more like their Mexican counterparts. It's only shocking that they would be so bold and that the resolution would be so utterly dishonest.

Gil Cedillo's driver's licenses for illegal aliens: April 18, 2006 - 04/13/06

Gil Cedillo is the author of a series of failed bill designed to give California driver's licenses to illegal aliens: six attempts in the past seven years. Plus, he's also proposed similar bills giving illegal aliens - and only illegal aliens - a pass on towing charges. This year's attempt to give benefits to illegal aliens from Mexico and other countries - Cedillo's core constituency - is scheduled for a hearing on April 18, 2006. If you're a California resident (and a U.S.

California Democrat Gil Cedillo re-introduces driver's licenses for illegal aliens bill - 01/12/06

Schwarzenegger's press secretary says his opposition to this bill remains. Most of the illegal aliens who'd get licenses under this bill are of the same race as Cedillo, who's a former member of the racial separatist group MEChA.

Arnold Schwarzenegger vetos driver's licenses for illegal aliens - 10/07/05

Details here. Note that the title actually refers to them as "illegal" rather than implying it concerns "immigrants" as a whole. Now, here's a shocker: Gil Cedillo says he'll keep trying with his campaign to get legal U.S. ID cards into the hands of Mexican citizens.

Bill would prevent illegal aliens' cars from being impounded - 09/20/05

Our "American" legislators in Sacramento continue thinking up creative new ways to give rights to illegal aliens. Consider, for instance, a bill from Assemblyman Alberto Torrico, D-Fremont that's now sitting on Arnold Schwarzenegger's desk: The bill requires the police to return vehicles to their registered owners who present a valid registration and driver's license.

CalInsider: Arnold should just say driver's licenses for illegal aliens is a bad idea - 09/18/05

Rather than continuing to come up with excuses for not agreeing to Mexican-"American" legislator Gil Cedillo's constant attempts to give California ID cards to Mexican citizens who are here illegally, Daniel Weintraub has a alternate suggestion for Arnold: ...At this point the only honest reason to oppose giving licenses to illegal immigrants is because the state should not be giving its blessing to illegal behavior. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that position.

California Democrats support illegal immigration, lie about motivations, and pass driver's license bill - 09/08/05

The California Assembly and Senate have passed Gil Cedillo's SB60, which would give driver's licenses to illegal aliens. That bill now goes to Arnold for either a veto or his signature. He has until mid-October to decide. Around 70% of Californians are opposed to that bill, so, if Arnold signs it don't expect him to win any other elections. He might even get recalled, although whether there's enough time to mount such a recall is unclear.

Gil Cedillo's latest attempt to get ID into the hands of Mexican citizens who are in California illegally has passed the Transportation Committee. It now goes to the Assembly Appropriations Committee, and if it passes there it will be voted on in the Assembly. Passage there would send it to Arnold, who will most likely veto it. Details in the biased Copley News report "Immigrant license bill under Republican fire" from James P. Sweeney.
