Media Violence Fast: far-left religious groups cover up support for illegal activity with false claims of "hate" - 10/17/09

Between October 19 and 26, a group of far-left religious groups [1] will be conducting a "Media Violence Fast" during which they're encouraging their members to avoid violence in the media; that wouldn't be such a bad goal if all they were doing was avoiding entertainment programs. Of course, they aren't doing just that. Instead, they're using the "hate speech" label to both paper over the fact that they support massive illegal activity and in an attempt to silence those in the media who support our laws. Federal Hate Crimes bill S. 909: violates Constitution, unequal treatment? (Eric Holder) - 07/09/09

The attached video is of Senate testimony from Attorney General Eric Holder on a federal hate crimes bill (S. 909). According to this: It features Attorney General Holder flatly stating that, despite promising to do so, S. 909 will not protect all Americans who are victims of violent hate crime. It will only protect a privileged minority, including homosexuals, blacks, and Jews. Secondly, Holder can provide no example of even one state failing to enforce the law against hate criminals. They suggest contacting Senators and asking them to view the video. According to Investors Business Daily...

Alcee Hastings amendment seeks to keep "hate groups" out of military; Attorney General gets to define "hate" - 07/05/09

Impeached federal judge and now Representative Alcee Hastings has introduced an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (H.R. 2647, link) that seeks to keep "hate groups" and the like out of the U.S. military (PDF here). It's entitled the "Prohibition on recruitment, enlistment, or retention of persons associated with hate-related violent against groups or persons or the United States government" and it would add the following prohibition to Section 504 of title 10 of the U.S. Code: A person associated with a group associated with hate-related violence against groups or persons or...

Youtube joins with Anti Defamation League to stop "hate" videos ("Abuse and Safety Center") - 03/01/09

Back in December 2008, Youtube established the Orwellian-named "Abuse and Safety Center" (youtube.com/t/safety), an online tool that can be used to report threats, spam, and other forms of legitimate abuse. However, they also have a section dealing with "Hateful Content", and for that they've joined with the Anti Defamation League (help.youtube.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?page=&answer=126264&master=hatefulcontent).

WTF: ADL's "No Place for Hate" campaign - 05/12/07

Via this we learn that the Anti-Defamation League has been conducting a "No Place for Hate" campaign in New England with the Massachusetts Municipal Association since 1999 [1]. Cities in New England and elsewhere can join the program ([2][3][4]), and, as long as they conduct three events designed to show they're free of hate and that they respect diversity, they get a nifty sign that they can attach to a post (not provided) at the entrance to their town. Of course, as the second link above shows, the ADL has a rather flexible definition of "hate", with one required to support illegal...
